So Frikken Crafty #1: Aluminum Can Hair Clip

Okay so I was so excited to do this (see my previous post) that I couldn't wait until this weekend to do it. And it's so easy that I just did it today, at my desk, during work. And yes, I am still at work while I'm posting about it. ^_^

So I got this idea a while back from a gogo buddy of mine. I thought it looked so cute I decided to recreate it. Here's what you'll need:

1. Aluminum can

2. Scissors

3. Hair clips (bobby pins will work too)

4. Tape (I used masking tape - which was all I could find in the office - but duct tape might hold a little better. Plus, the colored/patterned duct tape would be even cuter!)

See, I told you it would only take 4 items to make! :P

Now here are the steps:

1. First, estimate how big you want you bow to be, then cut out a piece of your can to fit your estimate. Be sure to keep the circular shape of the can in tact, a strip won't give you the same full effect. Tip: cut a little extra just in case you make a mistake.

Yup, that's my lunch in the background: Spinach rolls. ^_^

2. Next, figure out what part of the can you want to be the front of your bow. Then pinch the can where you want the middle to be and cut into a bow shape. I found this to be a bit tricky, but keep your grip tight so that your sides match! Tip: Make sure there are no stringy pieces of metal sticking out! We don't need a head injury!

3. Once you've got your bow shaped, cut a strip of tape and wrap it around your bow's center.

4. Then get your clip, and secure it by winding around another strip of tape around the clip and bow.

5. Now put it in your hair and smile because you're so frikken crafty for creating it!

Hope you liked this little crafty...umm...craft. Super cute and super-duper easy. I might try to do a few more this weekend, I've got a few ideas on adding a bit more flair to the shape of the bow.

I recut the first bow so now it looks like this:

I think it looks even cuter! And hey, we're recycling too! ^_^

Questions? Comments? Ideas for other crafts? I'd love to hear them!

    1. I made another one for Joey's niece with the Arizona Red Apple Green Tea can but didn't get to take a picture of it! :[

It was really pretty though because we used the part where the green faded into pink so it was a really cool effect.
