When you work in an office...

Ahh...it feels so good to have had a three-day weekend!  It was probably one of the best weekends we've had since the year started because we didn't have any big plans and we were able to really just enjoy it.  We got away from the house, ignored the phones, and just spent time together.

Today is the start of the work week and I think even the weather isn't happy about it because it's been storming for the better part of the day.  After such a great weekend away from this place, I've started to realize some things about working in an office that never really crossed my mind before...

- Paperclips are whores.  Though they look all cute and innocent (some of them are very convincing), these babies get passed around and around and around like nobody's business.  And no matter what, you can never get rid of them, they're sneaky little tarts that will pop up when you least expect them to.

- Everyone has bad days.  At home, it was pretty much just Trace and I.  All. Day. Long.  There were no deadlines we needed to meet and no outside pressures dampening our moods.  We ate, we played, and we learned.  When you spend all day with other people who have their own kids, deadlines and worries, you begin to understand that not everyone has the carefree attitude of a 4-year-old.  Even though they may have the temper like one.  *One of the attorneys gave everyone this mug for Christmas.  Isn't it perfect?  Lol.

- Lunch is for rich people.  I'm well on my way to my goal of losing weight thanks to this new diet called "I'm not about to spend $8/day on food I only have an hour to enjoy".  And if you're going to tell me to wake up early and pack my lunch:  #aintnobodygottimeforthat

- Dress codes suck.  Okay, so we don't really have a "dress code" per say, but it's still pretty much business casual around here.  I miss being able to wear sweatpants and one of Joey's shirts at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday.  I can't wear shorts or slippers and I can't dye my hair a crazy color because it would be considered inappropriate and unprofessional.  Boo!  I still want to dye my hair purple though - maybe a dark purple that's a little more subtle?

- An office is a giant petri dish.  Even if you steam clean, sanitize, and scour the shit out of everything you touch in your office, chances are you're going to get sick from someone.  There is so much dust, dead skin cells, hair, paper fiber, and germs circulating in offices it's a wonder how I'm still alive.  If one person is sick in the office, you better avoid that mofo like the plague.  Wear gloves, a respiratory mask, and carry around your economy-sized sanitizer everywhere you go!  No joke.

If you can't already tell, I'm kind of having trouble focusing today.  All I want to do is go home, curl up on the couch, and finish reading my book while the kids play Just Dance 2014 on the Xbox.  Guess I'll have to wait until the weekend again...
