Empowered Quicksilver

So you may be wondering what the meaning behind this post title is, right?  No, I didn't just randomly select two words from the dictionary.  "Empowered Quicksilver" is my Secret Language Name.

What's a Secret Language Name, you ask?

Well the "Secret Language" is a series of books whose material is based on a study of more than 20,000 people, organized by birthday.  Each birth date has its own Secret Language name, personality traits, and destiny path for you to discover.

Still confused?  Let me show you what I mean by showing you what I found out about myself when I looked up my birth date:

See that highlighted part up there?  Totally me.  I've always thrived in front of an audience - from four years old I took up ballet, jazz, hiphop, hula, tap, singing, piano, drama, modeling, and now blogging.  There's just something about putting myself out there that makes me feel alive (*spirit fingers*).

Again, extremely accurate.  I am the queen of sarcasm, which gets me into trouble at times.  And if you've followed this blog long enough, you'd totally agree with the second part.  So if you're wondering where Makeup Mondays, What I Wore Wednesdays, and Fitness Fridays went - there's your answer.  And if you're a bill collector:  sorry, she doesn't live here.

After reading through my whole Secret Language profile, I can honestly say that it was much more accurate and detailed than any astrology book I've ever read.  I love that it's based on an actual study done with real people - not just some thousand-year-old guesses and assumptions.

And of course after reading my profile, I went and looked up the hubby's and the kids' Secret Language profile too!  It was really fun reading about them and finding out their personality traits and again, everything I read accurately described them.  I literally LOL'd when I read Aniyah's Secret Language Name:  Innocent Managers.  She is very shy, but she is constantly trying to gain control and power over situations - her younger siblings, most especially.

I HIGHLY encourage you to go and find out YOUR Secret Language Name.  You'll be surprised at how accurately it describes who you really are.  And you can also check the traits and compatibility of your relationships with others too - you know, so you can find out what you both need to work on.  ;)

I'd love for you to let me know what you discovered about yourself and your friends and family!  I would say let's make a series of it, but you know - I'm bad at finishing projects.  And there's the sarcasm, too.  Comment below and let me know!

Fitness Friday: Body Image

So I've been contemplating this post for a while now and after a recent beach session I figured I may as well get on with it.

Most of you should already know that I'm a mother to three crazy/awesome/wonderful kids.  Some of you may also know that I dabbled in modeling and gogo dancing in my prime.  But here's something that none of  you know:

I've struggled with my body image issues through it all.

Let's take a look back, shall we?  And please excuse the excess of skin, facial expressions, and vulgar hand gestures.

2003:

Skinnocent = skinny + innocent

2004:

A little thicker

2005:

Still uncomfortable in my skin

2006:

April - A little thinner

June - Gained a lot of weight

2007:

Pregnant

Sorry if I just made you throw up.  Lol.  Anyway, as you can see, my weight has fluctuated quite a bit throughout the years.  It's been like that since the 8th grade but it still bothers me when I notice myself gaining weight.

Since having kids, I've gotten a little more of a belly than I used to have.  I'm sure there are a LOT of other moms who will tell you - that pouch is damn near impossible to get rid of!  At first I was disgusted with my body.  Every time I saw myself in the mirror I would get depressed.  I would cover up as much as possible and would be ashamed to wear a bathing suit in public.

It wasn't until I went back home to Hawaii and saw everyone and their mothers baring it all that I regained my confidence.  I got back my "idgaf" attitude and started wearing monokinis, then got back into two piece bikinis.

No, I don't have a flat stomach and tiny waist, and yes, I do have some stretch marks - so what?   I've never been a healthy eater (I love my bacon) and I'm not really an athletic person (is blogging a sport yet?) but I'm working on it!

Moral of the story:  love yourself, no matter what.  Body image isn't everything.
