Today sucks. There, I said it. I'm not going to copy and paste a smile on today - I'm not in the mood. You know those days where you wake up still tired, sore, and exhausted from the day before? Like a hangover, except you hadn't been drinking - which puts you in a worse mood because if you had been drinking at least you can blame it on the alcohol rather than yourself for staying up until 3am on Pinterest or finishing up that book you've been reading.
Anyway, being that its a crappy Thursday for me I thought we'd take a trip down memory lane to naiver/stupider times. I was inspired by Kathy's informative and hilarious post the other day about the dumb stuff she'd done when she was younger so I thought I'd post mine...
Skip
school and lie about my whereabouts. This one’s actually on the mild side for me
(which should prepare you for the other ones you’ll read about) because
skipping school is a pretty common thing when it comes to teenagers. It didn’t seem like such a big deal - I’d
leave school with my friends and we’d all go to the beach or to someone’s house
to get stoned and watch movies. But now
that I’m older and definitely wiser, I realize that it was a pretty stupid
thing to do. What if there was an
emergency and my parents needed to find me?
What if I got into an accident on my way home? The possibilities (now that I finally think
about them) were endless.
Hallucinate
on a rooftop.
Okay, since we’ve already gotten started on drugs – because I was a
teenager and thought I was invincible – let’s just get this one out of the way
too. Salvia is so NOT fun. I tried it once and it was one of the worst
feelings ever. I started on the rooftop,
with everyone else and when I was finally brought back to reality, I was inside
the house. I don’t know exactly what
happened when I lost it, but I can’t shake the feeling that I could have died
if I’d fallen off of that roof.
Hung out with strangers who "knew" me and my friends. No, I didn't sign up for online dating sites. Back in the days of MySpace and Facebook (okay, I know Facebook is still a "thing" but I'm not into it anymore) my friends and I were kind of a big deal. Trust me, I'm not trying to brag - because being a big deal on MySpace is kinda pathetic, but it was true. You don't need to be a geographer to know that Hawaii is pretty small so it's not hard to run into people you "follow" from time to time. I'd go out with my friends and hear "Hey, that's Duckie from MySpace" in whispered tones from two tables down. Seriously. The ones who were bold enough to come up and say "hi" would often be invited to hang out or meet up with us at whatever party or spot we'd be at next. Did we ever stop and think that these people could potentially kidnap and kill us? No, of course not. We just thought: the more, the merrier.
So that's it for now. There are a lot of other stupid things I've done, but we'll save those for another sucky day. Like Monday. Mondays always suck.
