This weekend was...

Empty threats
Good soup
Sighs of relief
Broken phone
Sketching
Legos
Netflix binging
Cooking
Living-room camping
Finally sunshine
Sewing
Turkey and stuffing
No workouts
Oreo pie
Messy rooms

Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts on Friday!  The threat of the tropical storm had passed and we got the "all clear" early Saturday morning.  We spent our weekend at home, just as we would have, had the storm hit.  It allowed me to relax, have some down time to play with the kids, and I also turned on the old sewing machine and started on a few projects that I'm looking forward to completing this week!

How was your weekend?

Rain rain, go away.

This weekend was fun fun fun!  Sorry for not posting my #icants + #iknowicans on Friday, but you should know by now that if it's a weekend or a holiday, there probably won't be a post up around here.  A day off from work also means a day off from blogging.  #sorrynotsorry

There's been a tropical storm in the area that had passed by over the weekend so the weather kinda sucked.  It was windy (up to 50mph), cloudy, and it rained on and off throughout the whole weekend, but that didn't stop us from having fun.  Because the beaches were dirty from all the runoff, we ended up going to the Tarza Waterpark instead.  It was pretty much empty (again, tropical storm warning) so we got to relax and enjoy it a bit more since there were no lines or crowds.

Saturday was one of the first days in a long time that the kids and I had a day to ourselves.  Whenever Joey goes golfing, the kids and I spend the day eating, shopping, and/or exploring places we wouldn't otherwise go to if Joey were with us.  He's a very picky eater so we really enjoy those days since we get to eat at restaurants he doesn't really prefer, like our favorite sushi place: Sushi Rock.

Sunday was mostly spent cleaning.  I finally got a separate clothes rack to hang all the rest of my stuff and spent most of Sunday going through mountains of clothes.  I'm not completely finished (I kind of ran out of hangers) but I still made major progress - I can see the couch now! - so I'm excited to get it all put away and organized so I can get started on everything else (jewelry, hats, makeup, etc.).  Yup, hoarder problems.

Last night, Joey and I had a much-needed date night.  We ate dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, where we first met, and grabbed some ice cream afterwards at Haagen-Dazs in the Plaza.  Honestly, it was the first time we'd ever eaten at Hard Rock Cafe, and the first time we'd ever been there after meeting 8 years ago.  Crazy, right?  It wasn't an extravagant date, but we enjoyed ourselves.  Especially since the servers pull some of the customers up to dance every so often.

Oh, and because I haven't posted it on the blog yet, here's a photo of my hurr' cut and today's #ootd.

Even though I didn't get cake...

Whew!  What a weekend!  First off, thank you to all of you for your birthday wishes!  It really means the world to me that I have such wonderful blogger friends (we are friends, aren't we?) out there who understand my need to be a birthday brat!  Lol.  My birthday weekend was absolutely amazeballs!

I left work a little early Thursday (it was my birthday and I wasn't doing much anyway) and went home to relax and unwind for a bit.  When Joey came home he surprised me with this bad-ass birthday present:

Like I've mentioned before, we're not really gift-givers.  We basically just go out to dinner and that's about it.  No presents or celebrations for Joey and I.  We usually would rather spend our money on more practical things.  But, we've been in need of a truck for some time now (for hauling things, taking Kaos to the beach, etc.) and our car needs to be repaired so this was actually a pretty practical gift.  Plus, Joey also added that this gift "makes up for all the other years that I didn't get you anything" so now I can't really complain that he never got me anything before.  Lol.

And to my ultimate surprise, he actually planned a little surprise get-together with a couple of our friends that night too.  Nothing fancy, just a little BBQ, but the fact that he planned everything (I was just thinking we'd stay home and watch a movie on Netflix) AND surprised me with it was so amazing.  And because our friends are awesome and know me so well, they got me a box of chocolate and a bottle of Hpnotiq - which I drank half of that night.  I even got a card:

Friday morning was Aniyah's promotional ceremony so despite our late night, we all had to get up early, get dressed, and get going.  This was her last year in elementary school and she'll be starting middle school soon!  The ceremony was beautiful and I may have shed a few tears - that I tried to play off so as not to embarrass her.  The committee went above and beyond our expectations and held the ceremony off-campus in an air conditioned gym.  There was even a reception afterwards that was catered!  A/C + food = awesome.

We relaxed the rest of the day (I was off from work) and celebrated that evening with our family at V.I.P. House in Tumon for dinner.  V.I.P. is a Chinese restaurant and they have a nightly buffet service as well as their traditional menu.  The buffet is very affordable (about $18 per adult) and very tasty, compared to other buffet dinners at some hotels here on Guam which are priced at $25+ and can be pretty bland.

Saturday was spent out and about.  We had a birthday party to attend during the day and Aniyah had a sleepover party that she attended Saturday evening, so after dropping her off, we went home and turned in early that night.  Sunday was a full day of cleaning so we were thankful for the extra sleep we had during the night.  I didn't wake up early enough to have a garage sale, but I did take more things out of my closet that I wanted to get rid of so it cleared up some space in there.

I already know that this week will be pretty crazy.  Trace's 5th birthday is on Thursday, June 5th, and we'll be celebrating it on Saturday, June 7th with a "water war".  He's really excited about it so I've been hustling trying to get everything prepared and ready for that day.  I whipped up some invitations and a pennant banner that will go over his cake table, but I've still got to design the rest of the signs and stickers for the favors, party stations, etc. as well as get the cake, menu, snack bar, decorations...ugh.  Thank goodness this will be the last party I'll be planning for a while.

Cheers to the busy week ahead.  I need a drink to prepare myself for it.  What about you?  What was your weekend like?  What's on your plate this week?

I took it as a sign...

This weekend did NOT go as planned.  But when life gives you lemons...you figure out which alcohol goes best with lemons (hint: Tequila) and deal with it.

Remember that 5k we were supposed to do?  Yup, didn't happen.  Our car decided to crap out on us and we didn't have transportation until that afternoon.  Fucking fantastic.  I took it as a sign that the universe agreed that I was not ready to take on that challenge.

So, even though we were stuck at home for the better half of the day, I was still able to work up a sweat by cleaning.  And when we finally were able to leave the house, we took a drive to the mall and I treated myself to a few things.

Sunday morning we got an early start.  All I wanted was to go somewhere for coffee and a quick breakfast before spending all day at the water park.  We decided on Denny's, and even though it was pretty packed, we were still seated quickly which I was thankful for because I was starving.  Unfortunately, we sat there and waited for a while, watching everyone who was seated after us get served their drinks and have their orders taken.  I took it as a sign that we should have just had cereal for breakfast, and we walked out.

By the time we left, it was already around 10am so we just headed straight to the water park.  And since people were still probably waiting in line to have their brunch, the place was pretty empty so we got a whole row of lounge chairs right next to the pool.  Plus, the park just opened so the food at the snack bar was fresh and quick!  Hot wings, burritos, corn dogs, churros, and shaved ice was our Mother's Day feast.

After the water park we headed down for a visit with Joey's parents and then went to Kmart to grab a few necessities.  I had just wanted to run in and get a brush and a refill for the plug-in.  Yeah, right.  We ended up staying there for about an hour because Joey gave in to the kids' request for a toy - I was irritated because they had each just gotten a toy the day before and spending money on toys that they'll break in 3 days is not something that I like to do.  Ever.  Thennnnnnnn the power went out.  I took it as a sign that we should have just went straight home instead.

Finally, we went home and I was able to relax a little.  We tidied up the house a bit, got the girls ready for school the next day, and set up the standing fan that we bough to cool the house down a bit.  After the kids had settled down from being out all day, Joey suggested that I go and treat myself to something.  Of course, I jumped at the chance.

When I got to the store, I was underwhelmed.  And, since the last time I went shopping on a Sunday evening was during the holidays (with holiday hours), I wasn't able to take my time and find something I really liked because they were already starting to close within 10 minutes of me walking in.  I took it as a sign that I should just save my money for something I really wanted.

I was starving by that time so I stopped at McDonald's on my way home.  Even though it was already 9:30pm, I ordered a chocolate chip frappe anyway since I hadn't gotten my coffee fix at all that day and that's all I wanted to begin with.

The kids were just about ready for bed by the time I got home so I was able to sit down, watch TV, and eat in peace.  It had been a few weeks since I'd had McDonald's so I was really looking forward to sinking my teeth into that super greasy meal.  I took a sip of my frappe and put two fries in my mouth only to be stunned with a throbbing toothache.  I had just gone to the dentist two weeks ago and I didn't even chew on the side that was hurting.  I took it as a sign that I should just take some Tylenol, go to bed, and try again next weekend.

What about you?  How was your weekend?  Did you notice any signs?  Do you need some tequila?

A Helluva Week

Photo credit: Dream a Little Bigger

Sometimes even when you're trying your hardest to stay positive, things still don't work out.  That's what last week was for me.  One big, gigantic, super stressful, positive energy draining, getting on my last nerve kinda week.

Monday and Tuesday weren't so bad.  They went surprisingly well.  Wednesday was a lazy day for me.  I couldn't help but feel extremely sleepy all day.  Thursday I was off thanks to the girls' parent-teacher conferences that day so I was able to finish painting some of the living room, clean my closet, get the house straightened up a bit and I even got a chance to record the tag video that I've been procrastinating on.  It was a surprisingly good and productive day.

And then Friday came.

I have never hated a Friday as much as I hated last Friday.  It should have been an awesome day, as Fridays usually are, especially since it was a payday Friday.  But, noooooo.  It rained, everyone was being extremely grumpy, people were impatient...it was like the universe was bumping everyone's attitude back to Monday!  By the time I got home that day, all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and wait for Saturday.

Saturday was a lot better.  I paid some bills, we picked up some necessities, and I was able to get a few (much needed) goodies for myself as well.  Obviously I'm a huge believer in retail therapy.

I woke up pretty early on Sunday morning, freaking out because I thought it was Monday already (can you tell that most of my Friday frustrations were work-related?).  Thankfully, with the early start, we were able to stop by the Smokin' Wheels event and watch the motocross race.  Trace absolutely loved it!  He's expecting a motocross bike for his birthday now.  Yeah, right.

I've got a lot planned for this week (hint:  review, video, a giveaway...) so I'm hoping to keep the positivity up!  Cheers to a new week!

By the way, how was your week and weekend?  Have you ever had an incredibly bad day at work?

Its Okay.

Remember my #iknowican list of things I planned to do over the weekend?  Well, guess what?

I didn't do it.

Not a single damn thing can be crossed off that list.

And you know what?  I really don't care because I was able to rest, relax, and enjoy this:

Sometimes its okay to say "fuck it" and just do what makes you feel good.

How did you spend your weekend?
