I feel like this blog has slipped away from me over the past few months. Since our vacation (*cringe* that makes me feel like I'm bragging) family trip back in May, I've lost touch with most of my loyal readers and I feel like I haven't really gotten that connection back. I've lost followers, and haven't had much reader interaction lately and it's kind of got me down.
I've been trying to post more consistently this past month and have got some awesome giveaways and reviews coming up soon too but I feel like my efforts have gone unnoticed. I've also got a serious case of writer's block and I don't know what to write about and when I do have an idea, I'm constantly second guessing myself and asking "Is it blog worthy?"
Have you ever felt this way? What do you do when you're in a blogging rut? Should it even be called a blogging rut?
Any advice would really be a big help, seriously. I'm thinking of starting all over - new design, new direction - but I'd really like to hear from all of you first. What would you like to see? What would make YOU want to read and comment on?
Blogs are supposed to be a fun way to put yourself out there, get support, and interact with others and I want to get that fun interaction back. Please, please, please comment below!
P.S. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, so if you need blogging help too, let's help each other out!
I wouldnt even say I get in a blogging rut. I have all these ideas that i say "that might make a good blog post" but then I never get around to do it and then the window has passed or 2 weeks go by without a single post. So frustrating sometimes!
ReplyDeleteI personally love your blog. It is one of the first ones I started following and I enjoy your posts about your family. Keep those up if you decide to change anything!
XOXO
i never take blogging too seriously. and in fact, i never think of it as blogging, but it's more about me writing. ha. so i never put myself too much on it. but when you have a writer's block a change of scene might help. like new design will be refreshing. i'd love to see how this place is gonna be like after the facelit. in the mean time, i hope you find your groove back. mood is such a tricky thing.
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling in a blogging rut lately too, trying to figure out new ideas for posts etc. i'd say just keep posting what you want and just interact with other bloggers too :)

Girl you know my story. I wasn't in a rut as much as I realized I wanted to go into another direction.
ReplyDeleteSo I started a new blog from square one. And it's hard. New audience, new themes, new angles. So hard to build it back up from the very beginning!
I see blogs go through rebranding all the time. I think it's refreshing!
For me personally I love more personal/lifestyle type posts. I notice that I comment on posts because I feel a connection of some sort or can relate in some way. I love posts about your thoughts, family, DIY projects.
As for giveaways I rarely enter them anymore. There is just so much to do. I know, I know, I shouldn't be complaining about things to do when it's a FREE prize but I don't like to participate in the ones where I have to follow 20+ bloggers on multiple social media outlets. If I want the prize and the steps aren't too involved, I'll play. But it seems like the longer I've been a part of BlogLand the more selective I've become about the blogs I interact with or giveaways I participate in.
But you will always be on my "Favorite Reads" list on my blog reader =) You were one of my first blogging friends and I always look forward to your posts. I may not be able to read/interact as much as before but as long as you keep writing, I'll keep reading.

in my opinion, you (re)gain readers by lurking the hell out of them and commenting like crazy! that's what i did and got a whole new bunch of readers and made some great connections. for real, it took me several months of legit and relentless stalking to gain my readership...which probably means that they finally gave and said to themselves OK ENOUGH ALREADY!! I'LL READ YOUR SHIT! GET OFF MY BACK ALREADY!! and started leaving me comments too and interacting with me LOL
ReplyDeleteif you feel that a blog overhaul will inspire you to post more, then go for it. in my opinion, you post about whatever you want to post about and you don't have to be a certain "type" of blog for people to keep reading/following; as long as you post from the heart, you'll do just fine.
the most important thing, though, is to always interact with your readers...in all of my blogging experience (via my own posts, readers' comments, their posts etc), the #1 way to lose readers is by ignoring them/their comments/their attempts at connecting with you. i know i have stopped following blogs who do that because it seems that they just don't care about what you have to say so why bother, kwim?
but i'm glad you're back to blogging!
