I've got some good news, and some not so bad news.

Okay, let's start with the good news:

 

I got a new job!

 

Alright, it's not a new new job, it's a new old job.  I'm back as a Legal Secretary in the firm I first started out at waaaaaaaay back in 2007.  I'm really excited because this firm is where I got my start in the legal field and the people here at this firm are absolutely AMAZING people who I have kept in touch with throughout the years.

 

Though being a stay-at-home mom was a great position (long lunch hours, naptimes, browsing Pinterest till my eyes went numb, pants and bra optional...) I am kind of glad to be able to get dressed up every morning and talk to adults throughout the day.  Trace acts like an old man sometimes, but talking to a 4-year-old is not the same.

 

As for the not so bad news, since I'll be working full-time again, there may be times where this blog might get neglected.  I was actually posting more when I was working at my last firm - being in front of the computer all day has its benefits - so I'm hoping that will be the case again this time around, but if you do notice that my posts become scarce every once in a while, it's probably because I'm just busy with work.

 

Also, since I'm still so stoked to have my own cubicle again, I'll be putting together a workaholic gift guide - mostly so I can gift myself.  Hahaha.

Welcome to October!

 

October is one of my favorite months because the temperatures get lower, everyone is more festive, and the fashion is edgier.  I always look forward to the rich, deep colors of the fall fashion trends - my favorite color is black, after all.

Another obvious reason why I love October is because of Halloween.  It has been one of my favorite holidays since I was a little kid - I mean, who doesn't like dressing up and pretending to be someone/thing else for a night?!  And though I'm an adult, I still love dressing up with my kids - it's just that my costumes now are less umm...how do you say...slutty?

And with three kids who love dressing up on Halloween as much as I do, my costume budget is pretty small.  But I still manage to go all out when I can thanks to the power of imagination and DIY!

Last year I put together a couple of DIY costume style boards that were a big hit.  They included Gwen Stefani, Chola Chic, and a Playful Panda.  This year I'll be putting together more DIY costumes and style boards for you and I'm even open to requests!  So if you have an idea of what you want to be this year, let me know and I'll try to put together a costume board for you!

You may have heard it through the grapevine...

That Frikken Duckie is frikken engaged!  Yes, it's true.  It was while we were still on vacation in Hawaii when he proposed.  I was pretty excited then and I'm still pretty excited about it now!

Now, I'm not really one of those obsessive event bloggers - you know, the ones that constantly post about their wedding from their engagement until after their honeymoon and then a few weeks later, they're pregnant and all you see is pregnancy posts.  While those blogs are fun to follow for a little inspiration here and there, it kinda gets to be too much for me after a while.

That being said, I hereby vow to only write ONE wedding related post per week at the most.  Since I haven't really been posting consistently lately anyway, it may not even be that often.  I'm still working on the "posting consistently" part.

So, as far as "the big day" goes, we haven't really done much planning.  No date has been set, no guest list has been drafted.  As of right now, we're still at the dreaming phase.  We're figuring out all our "wants" to see what is do-able.

I've kind of got my color palette together (light pinks and nudes), and I already know what I want my bridesmaid dresses to look like.  Since the ceremony will be in a church during the day and the reception to be held outdoors in the evening, I've decided to go with a simple and light maxi dress.

I love the look of this dress!  With the bridesmaids I have in mind, this shape will flatter all of them.  Can't go wrong with an empire waist!

This neckline is gorgeous!  I really like that this dress doesn't have a cinched-in waistline because I do plan to add a beaded belt to add a little sparkle to the dresses - and if you know me, you know I need a little sparkle in everything!

Hello all my lovely friends!  Sorry for being MIA yet again.  As most of you may know, I'm in Hawaii right now.  I got here last Tuesday and have been busy catching up and hanging out with family and just enjoying being home for the first time in 3 years.

I'm heading to California in a few hours and will be there until the 30th (let's meet up!) but I'll try to post as often as I can.  I've got another awesome giveaway post coming up in a few hours so stay tuned for that!

I'm Alive + DIY Earring Holder

Sorry for the lack of posts and general blog participation lately.

The weather has been horrible lately and now every single one of us in the house is sick to a certain degree.

Anyway, so this post was going to be my little recap of the weekend and my rant about how I lost the memory card for my camera but as I was writing about it, I got the urge to try and look for it one last time and - yep, you guessed it - I found it!

So now, instead of a recap and rant, you get a little DIY tutorial.

----------------------

- Picture frame

- Scissors

- Hot glue

- Plastic grid sheet

Remove glass, backing, and generic picture from frame.

Measure and cut your plastic grid sheet to fit your frame.

Glue the edges of the plastic grid sheet and secure to frame.

Turn it around and pop some earrings in there!

A couple of things...

So, first off, thank you to all my lovely and patient followers for allowing me that mini blogcation!  You guys are awesome!

I'm stuck at home today (yes, stuck because Joey's mother did not come to pick up the kids and is not answering our calls) and really irritated because I have a lot of work to do.  I'll probably have to go in to work later tonight in order to get some things done before I get over loaded tomorrow.  But for now it's home work time and maybe a little craft time if I can get it all done.
