Sometimes I Can Be Simple

I've always been a complicated complex person.  I think I get it mostly from my grandmother who was probably the most complicated person in our family.  Trust me, I'm not over exaggerating.  My grandmother would not let the EMTs put her into the ambulance until she was properly dressed and her makeup was done.  Seriously.  The woman's about to have a full blown heart attack and she's making sure her lipstick is on point.

My grandmother had a big impact on my life so naturally I try to look my best and settle for nothing less.  I can be very complicated at times (Joey will definitely agree on this) but I do have a simpler side to me.  You don't have to be wearing 6-inch heels, sequins, or a wrist full of arm candy to look good.  Sometimes it's better to do without all that fuss.

Top:  Just a simple navy tank top  //  Cardigan:  Le Fleur Guam ($8.00)  //  Pants:  Ross ($16.00)

Flats:  Kors by Michael Kors ($14.00 at Ross)

Okay, I know I just said no sequins, but these sequins are clear, so they don't really count, right?  I mean if I didn't have a little sparkle in my outfit, it just wouldn't be "me".

Simple brown smokey eye, black liner, and mascara.  I'm not even wearing foundation either, just the new Garnier Oil-free BB Cream (review coming soon) I received recently.

What about you?  Are you complicated, simple, or just simply complicated?

P.S. Don't you just LOVE this color scheme?  Pink, navy, and heather grey are perfect together!

Charlie Brown.

I've been feeling a little uninspired and overwhelmed the past few days because I've got a lot on my mind.  I wasn't much in the mood to post today but I love linking up for the Style Sessions so I figured I should get it done now and then nap for a bit after.

Necklace: c/o Keena  //  Bracelets:  Sunglasses Etc. Guam  //  Bag:  Louis Vuitton  //  Top:  Target  //  Cardigan:  La Fleur Guam  //  Faux Leather Snakeskin Leggings:  c/o Christy  //  Shoes:  SM Guam

Since baseball season has started again here, you'll probably be seeing more pictures of the stadium in my upcoming outfit posts.  This is pretty much the only time I really go anywhere so just bear with me for now.

I'm ready for my nap now.  I have to get energized for a night full of baking because it's Chloe's turn to bring something to her school's bake sale this month. Yay.  -_-

What I Wore: Sashay Chambray!

Hey girl, HEY!

So remember that sad excuse of an outfit post last Wednesday?

Well as promised, I'm making up for it!

Shirt:  Ross [$15.00]  //  Skirt:  Selena Gomez's line @ Kmart [old]  //  Necklace:  Forever21 [gifted]  //  Bracelets:  Sunglasses, etc. Guam

I got this shirt at Ross for about $15!  I had been scouring the island looking for the perfect chambray top and the fashion gods have blessed me with this beauty!  I seriously wear this top at LEAST once a week now.  It's sooooo comfy!

This skirt hasn't really seen much wear.  I bought it last year or so and only wore it about 3 times because it's so short.  Buuuttt, since I'm just sitting around the house all day now it allows me to move around and stay cool during the hot and humid Guam afternoons.

Anyway, linking up again this Wednesday with Lauren over at Style Elixir for the weekly Style Sessions Link Up.  This is seriously one of the best linkups EVER.  Why didn't I think of it??

Also, I've got big plans in store for the upcoming months.  Been taking this little blog more seriously and I've been working hard behind the scenes to bring you guys more awesome content so stay tuned for updates!

P.S. What do you think of the collage?  Do you prefer stand alone pictures instead?

What I Wore Wednesday: Okay, Not Really.

Alright, so I didn't have time to do a real outfit post.

Sorry.

I was kind of busy all day yesterday when Joey's mom surprised us (at 8:30am) with an awning for our outdoor sink.  The catch was that we had to build it.

Since Joey's leg has been broken, he hasn't been able to do any yard work so the grass was getting long, the kids' toys were scattered all over the place, and the bushes were overgrown.

Anyway, I wasn't about to take pictures of my stained t-shirt and shorts that I was using yesterday and I hadn't gone anywhere recently where I had to dress up but I still wanted to post a preview of an outfit that I plan to PROPERLY showcase later.

This was the outfit I wore on Valentine's Day, which I spent in the hospital with Joey while he was getting a cast put on his leg.  Yes, we live a glamorous life, I know.

This is my new favorite top - it's cute, on trend, and it was cheap I bought it at Ross!  I'll get a better picture of it for the next outfit post and show you other items you can pair a basic chambray shirt with (as if we haven't seen enough of those) to match your own personal style.

Oh, and before you go, check out this GIVEAWAY hosted by my Korean sister from another mister, Michelle at Mish Lovin' Life!

What I Wore Wednesdays: You May Just Pee Your Pants

So if you've been following along around here and on Instagram (@frikkenduckie) lately, you'd know that my sister has been visiting from Hawaii for the past month.

She and I are about 7 years apart but we look so alike that some people mistake us for each other - even our own parents sometimes.

Anyway, she's been here since the beginning of January and I'm so sad that she'll be leaving soon!  The kids have always been close to her and they've informed me that they'll be leaving with her - hah, I wish!  Lol.

I think one of the best things about having her visit is that we both get expanded wardrobes!  We've got similar styles and we're practically the same size in everything (including shoes) so its really fun for us to borrow each others' clothes and mix and match items with our own to make a totally different look.

For example, I borrowed this tribal dress from her one day...

I paired it with a black blazer [Forever21], black suede wedges [Forever21], and silver accessories [Suglasses, Etc. Guam].

My sister normally wears this dress with a denim vest, black lace-up booties, and gold accessories.  Sorry I don't have a picture of her in it for you.  Just use your imagination...

One dress, two completely different looks.

What about you?  What would you pair this dress with?  Let me know in the comments below!

♥ Duckie.

P.S. My sister and I were totally goofing off while trying to shoot this outfit so I started making some really awkward poses.  Try and tell me you're not laughing your asses off at this picture:

"What I Wore" Wednesday: Flower Girl

Happy Wednesday, blog world!

Okay, so it's Thursday here on Guam but I didn't have time to post this yesterday.

I'm kind of rushing to post this now because my kids are still sick and my oldest ended up staying home from school today.  :(

So anyway, this another outfit that I have been meaning to post for a while now.

Dress:  Forever21 (gifted from Keena)  //  Earrings:  Sunglasses, Etc. on Guam  //  Belt:  Forever21  //  Sandals:  Purchased in the Philippines

I'm in love with the lace detail on this dress!

"Private Property"

Isn't this dress the cutest?  I'm a huge fan of little details on clothes like this and Keena knows me so well!  This dress makes me feel so innocent and girly...and "Like a Virgin" by Madonna is now playing in my head.  Hahaha.

Anyway, so this is my quick little outfit post for today.  Hope you guys love this dress as much as I do because I really, really do.

What I Wore Wednesday: A "Happy" Outfit

Helloooooo!

Today was another hot day here on the island of Guam.  It's one of those days where its so hot that you don't feel like doing anything except taking a nap - and since its hot all the time here, you can bet I nap often.

Anyway, today's outfit is something I've been meaning to post for a while now.  With the lazy hot days we've been having lately, I needed to put on my "happy" outfit and beat the heat!

Spike Necklace in Orange: $14.80 (720FOUR)  //  Sleeveless Tulip Dress in Jade:  $49.80 (720FOUR)  //  Leopard Print Gold Spiked Cap-Toe Flats:  $20.00 (SM on Guam)

See?  How can you have a bad day wearing such fun colors?  Uh, ya can't!

I ordered this necklace and dress from an online boutique called 720FOUR along with a white blazer back in August and am still in love with my purchases!  This dress is so perfect because it can be worn plain, with a blazer, with a belt, with a collared blouse under it, with tights...the possibilities are endless!

This necklace is one of my faces because the orange spikes just make it a fun and funky statement piece to compliment an outfit.  I personally love the combination of all three colors together (jade, gold, and orange) and think they work great together!

What do you think?  Do you have a "happy" outfit?

What I Wore Wednesday: BBQ Style

Happy Hump Day!

I love Wednesdays because it just means it's almost the weekend!

Just because I don't have a "real" job doesn't mean I don't look forward to weekends - because since Joey's off on weekends, I get to relax a bit more!

Anyway, our weekends here on Guam consist of sunny days and crazy nights - okay, not so crazy nights since we had kids, but it's nice to reminisce once in a while.

But seriously though, there is ALWAYS a party or bbq for us to attend on the weekend.  Birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, holidays, graduations, you name it - we'll bbq for it!

Being the big hungry girl that I am, you can bet that I LOVE any kind of function where there's free food and good vibes - so please don't judge me if you see me at the table more than four times.  I mean, when the table is filled with red rice, bbq'd ribs, fried chicken, pancit, baked mussels, and kelaguen galore - try and tell me that you can only have ONE plate!

Now, when attending a bbq on Guam it is important to dress appropriately.  For example, it's probably not a good idea to wear jeans if the bbq is at the beach during the day - that's just common sense, people!  But if you want to sweat your ass off all day, then by all means, go ahead.  Also, try and use bottoms with an elastic waist so you don't cut off circulation to your legs as your stomach increases.  And lastly, don't wear something too fitted - the amount of food you ate will show - try a flowy top or dress instead.

It's best to keep your hair and makeup minimal.  You don't want to look like a sad clown with your face melting off in the hot sun.  And a simple messy bun is the best hairstyle - it keeps your hair out of your face which gives you less of a distraction when you're stuffing it.

Need a reference?  See perfect weekend bbq attire, below:

And don't forget the kids!  All they need is a bathing suit, and you probably won't see them for a good two hours.

Trace jumping off the pier (he's 3 years old!).

Chloe the cannonball!

Aniyah's favorite jumping spot.

I just love this shot of her.  Umm, hello Roxy!  She is your next model!

Perfect form!

My mermaid.

Introduction Interruption

Today I'm gonna start off with a little bit of an introduction of myself and this little blog of mine! No, not because I forgot who I am (like how I forgot how old I was on my birthday), but because thanks to the HUGE success of yesterday's GFC Blog Hop, there are a whole lotta (awesome, amazing, gorgeous) new followers today!  So expect some more shameless plugs of my previous posts.  *And to my loyal readers who have already been following me "ever since ever since", please just bear with me.  Lol.

I'm not gonna do a whole lengthy introduction about who I am, why I started blogging, my life goals, etc. because that's what my "About Me" page is for.  Hah.  No, I'm kidding.  I'm not that blunt - just lazy (see here and here for proof).  So I'll just keep it simple and basic:

My name is Jessica (and all Jessicas are amazing) but most people know me as Duckie (pronounced ducky - not to be confused with dookey).  I grew up in the gorgeous island of Oahu, Hawaii and I love and miss anything and everything about home (see this post here).

I've been living on Guam for the past few years and work full-time as a legal secretary (see how hard I work in this post here).  And even though I dropped out of college twice, I'm also studying to get my Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies through Kaplan University (online) because - let's face it - this girl needs a raise.

I've got an AWESOME (well, today at least) boyfriend (who I show off around here once in a while, like here) and three amazing (crazy, naughty, loud, destructive) kids, all of whom I love to death.  I post about them from time to time so you'll get to see what I'm talking about.

This blog is, as the title says, a "little bit of everything" blog.  I'm constantly changing and growing and learning new things and this blog is a reflection of that.  Its got ups and downs, drama, suspense, romance, and everything else.

Its like reality TV, but without the script.

Oh, and I usually do an outfit post on Wednesdays, like this:

Gold crescent necklace & Burnt Orange Blazer:  Gift from Keena {Forever21}  //  Yellow blouse:  old {Target}  //  Black Bodycon Pencil Skirt:  old {Charlotte Russe}  //  Black Patent heels:  Gift from sister {Wet Seal}  //  Ring (left side):  $8.00 {Oasap.com}  //  Ring (right side):  $4.00 {Charlotte Russe}

By the sea, Mr. Todd...

Navy Cut-out Blouse:  $24  //  Nude Lace Shorts:  $26  //  Sunglasses:  $10  //  Gold Dangle Earrings:  $6  {all bought at Sunglasses, Etc. and Etcetera by Sunglasses, Etc. on Guam}  //  Ring:  $8 {Oasap}Tan Studded Sandals:  Gifted from the Philippines

We spent this past Sunday at a beach down south.  The weather was gloomy and the tide was low so I really wasn't in the mood for a swim but as always, nothing stops my ocean-loving kids from jumping in!  While the kids were having fun, my niece and I had our own little photo adventure so I was able to get some great shots of my outfit that day.

I had actually purchased the sunglasses and earrings last Thursday at this little shop in Agana Shopping Center called Sunglasses, Etc. and the sales person told me that they had opened a new boutique called Etcetera down at the Acanta Mall in Tumon where they sold clothes and shoes too.  Girl, you had me at "clothes"!

On Saturday I decided to haul my cookies down to Etcetera and check it out for myself - needless to say, I fell in LOVE!  The boutique is so adorable and full of unique items!  I honestly would have bought a lot more if I didn't just spend $200 buying clothes for the kids earlier that morning {damn you, Macy's!}.

Anyway, so if you don't already know, Guam is a pretty small island.  As far as shopping goes, it is very limited.  We don't have a Forever21.  We don't have a H&M.  We don't even have a Walmart, people!  Yes, you can start feeling bad for me now.

The stores we do have, however, are either (a) pricey or (b) played out - as in everyone shops there so there's about a 1 in 3 chance that you'll see some other girl will be wearing the same thing.  Yup, it's that bad.  So of course I'm extremely happy that I found Etcetera and I'm glad that they keep their orders minimal because I really don't like having a fashion double.

I really wish I had taken pictures of the shop to show you but, alas, I was on my own with the double trouble {Chloe and Trace} so I had a hard enough time just trying to get them to keep still while trying on clothes.  I will try my hardest to take a few pictures the next time I go because you KNOW I'll be going back there soon.  And if you live on Guam, or are planning to visit the island, please stop by there and take a look for yourself!  FYI, the owner is so awesome and friendly!

I could not find a website for Etcetera or Sunglasses, Etc. on Guam for you guys, but there's a news article about the opening of Etcetera HERE if you want to check it out!

Oh, and due to your requests, I will be posting my full outfit from yesterday's post as well as the outfit I wore on Monday {skirt as a top} in upcoming posts so check back soon every day!

What I Wore: 4th of July + Wishlist

Whoop whoop!  Happy Independence Day Americans!  Today's outfit post is a day late but you know I don't post on my days off!

So here are some pictures of our day yesterday.  Joey had gone golfing in the morning and we were supposed to go bbq at a beach afterwards but his family had their own little celebration at the Merizo Pier so we drove down and joined them instead (which was better because I didn't have to cook).  I'm still feeling fugly so I really wasn't in the mood to bust out my bikini.  And yes, despite pregnancy, motherhood, and stretch marks, I still bare my body in a bikini.  There are worse people baring it all, so why shouldn't I?

Dress: Gift {similar} / Necklace: Gift {similar}

This was an outfit gifted to me by my Keena Beena.  I've worn this dress twice already and get compliments on it every single time.  The bow print is so adorable!

I'm planning on getting a Michael Kors watch that was on my wishlist a couple months ago.  And I've also got a new shoe wishlist that I'm planning on fulfilling tonight:

Alex

Viola

Tyra

Julianne

Rebecha

So tell me, what do you think of these shoes?  What is on YOUR wishlist right now?  Comment below and let me know!  I'll probably end up adding some of your items to my wishlist too!

What I Wore Wednesday: Brown Eyed Blues

Sorry for such a late post today!  I attended a funeral today and had my plate full at work afterwards so I didn't have time to post during the day.  Anyway, I was supposed to do a little shoot this weekend to showcase all the gorgeous stuff that my BBFF [Bloggy BFF] Keena got me but my designated paparazzi was unavailable.  So please deal with my crappy Instagram picture for now.  Sorry.

Dress: gifted {F21} / Shoes: $40 {Shoe Mart}

Sorry for the "creeper" stare.  Didn't mean for it to look that hard.  Lol.

This dress is the cutest thing EVER!  I love the lightweight material and the gorgeous color.  This was a gift (as if you didn't already know) from Keena and I absolutely love it.  So much that I wore it last week.  Wednesday.  Yup, I'm an outfit repeater.

Anyway, I'm keeping this post short because its late and I've got homework to catch up on.  Sorry again!

What I Wore Wednesday: In Bloom. ers.

As you may or may not know, I got a couple of lovely gifts from Oasap recently and have been dying to share them with you!

The first item is these black lace-trimmed bloomers.  I've been obsessed with lace lately and these shorts are gorgeous!  Okay, I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about them at first but once I put them on, I was in love.  I paired them with this old cape blouse I had and well, I'll just go ahead and say it "I look gorgeous!" (Okay, minus that bruise on my leg...)

I love how these shorts are so light and comfortable.  Plus the lace trim doesn't make my legs all itchy like I thought they would.  Because you know these thunder thighs would NOT be happy about that.

The second little gift I got was this super cute cat ears ring!  I've seen a few people with this ring before and always wanted one for myself because I thought it was so adorable.

I was actually surprised at the quality of the ring when I got it because it was so heavy.  I thought it would be made out of some cheap metal that would make my finger green by the end of the day (don't you hate that?) but thankfully that didn't happen.

I've already worn this ring quite a few times since I got it and have already gotten a lot of compliments on it.  So you can guess that you'll be seeing it in a few of my upcoming outfit posts.

Please be sure to stop by Oasap (their banner is on my sidebar) and check out all the other amazing items they have.  I'm already planning what I'll be ordering next!

Top:  Charlotte Russe (Old) (alternative) / Shorts: Oasap lace-trimmed bloomers in black / Ring:  Oasap cat ears ring in copper
