Saturday Style: Frikken Duckie's Favorite Trends of 2012

 Welcome to the last Saturday of 2012!

I don't know about you guys, but 2012 was a pretty awesome year!

There were so many different fashion trends this year that it was kinda hard (and expensive) to keep up with them all!

Though I didn't follow ALL of the trends that 2012 brought us, here are some of my favorites:

1.  Chambray - I love this look!  The relaxed feel of chambray is such a comfy trend!

2.  Aztec-Inspired Print - There were so many different prints this year but this one was my fave.  (Remember my Gwen Stefani costume?)  It's so chic and edgy!

3.  Arm Candy - Who would have thought that wearing all your jewelry at once would be a trend?  Nevertheless, it's pretty fun to mix and match different bangles and bracelets!

4.  Color Blocking - This is such a fun trend!  I love being able to mix different colors together to create such a unique look.  Joey says it makes me look as if I'm colorblind or something.  Men.

5.  Chiffon - Do I even need to describe how amazing chiffon is?  The look, the feel, everything!  It's heavenly!

6.  Combat Boots - I've always been a fan of combat boots since my high school goth/punk/grunge days so I was super excited that they're back in trend!

7.  Oversized Watches - Remember my birthday wish list?  Well I still have yet to get my hands on one of these babies.  Super sad face.  But I still love the look of these masculine timepieces paired with girly clothes!

8.  Cap Toed Shoes - This trend gives any outfit extra spunk.  I especially love the metallic cap toes on a solid colored shoe.

9.  Studs - 2012 should really be known as the year of the studs!  Those things are EVERYWHERE!  Studded shorts, collars, shoulders, jackets, purses, phone cases, shoes, etc.  The list goes on and on!  I love that you can make anything look more edgy by adding a few studs!

10.  Statement Necklaces - Perfect piece to wear with a plain colored dress!  It'll take your little black dress to the next level!

11.  Faux-Leather Leggings - Okay, this one I still haven't got yet but I'm still searching!  This trend is so versatile and can be worn with a girly chiffon top or an oversized sweater (like in my Plaid post) for the colder seasons.

12.  High-Low - Yet another 2012 trend that is EVERYWHERE!  From skirts to dresses to tops - it seems we can't get enough of this mullet-inspired look!  Still haven't sported this trend?  Check out my How to Wear It!

13 & 14.  Coral & Mint - The colors of the year!  I swear there was one point (probably summer) where I couldn't turn around without seeing someone wearing a coral or mint something-or-other!

15.  Embellished Collars - What a quirky trend, right?  I wonder who thought this one up?  Like, let's cut off the collars of our dad/brother/boyfriend's shirts, bedazzle them, and wear them like a necklace with our different outfits!  Regardless of who thought it up or how it came to be, they are such a cute accessory to have!

16. Peplum - Shirts, skirts, and dresses - peplum is such a versatile trend!  Mix and match different patterns and textures with peplum to combine trends!

17.  Envelope Clutches - Okay, so maybe you look like you "just got a letter" on Blue's Clues, but so what?!  These things are so chic and can hold so much more than a regular little clutch!

18.  Sneaker-Wedges - I think this is my favorite trend of the year by far (mine are shown here)!  I love the look of sneakers but I'm so short that regular sneakers just make my legs look stubby and short.  When these things came out, it was like all my wishes came true!  Now I can have the casual street look of sneakers with the height and comfort of wedges!

So that's it, folks!  My all-time favorite trends of 2012!

I can't wait to see what 2013 has in store for us - let's just hope it's not too expensive!
